Nací en Michoacán, México, donde viví hasta los diez años de edad. Después nos mudamos a California. Aquí estudie aprendiendo Ingles como segundo idioma.
Recibí mi credencial de maestra bilingüe en la Universidad Estatal de Sonoma. Mi sueño siempre fue poder enseñar en una escuela de doble inmersión pero en el condado donde vivía no había ninguna. Trabaje como maestra de primer grado por siete años enseñando el programa regular. Cuando se presento la oportunidad de enseñar en una escuela de doble inmersión, decidí aplicar para la vacante. Me mude a Rohnert Park con mi esposo y mi hija Karissa. Trabajar como maestra en Loma Vista es un gran privilegio para mi.
I was born in Michoacan, Mexico where I lived until I was ten years old. After that, we moved to California. Here I learned English as a second language. I received my teaching credential from Sonoma State University. My dream was to be able to teach in a dual immersion program but in the county where I lived there were none. I taught first grade for seven years there teaching the regular program. When the opportunity to teach in a dual immersion school arose, I did not hesitate to apply for the position. I moved to Rohnert Park with my husband and my daughter, Karissa. Teaching at Loma Vista is a great privilege for me.

Soy nativa de España, nací en Galicia y crecí en Madrid. Llevo 3 años viviendo en California y 2 enseñando en el programa de inmersión dual. Estudié Educación Musical en la Universidad de Alcalá y Educación del Inglés como lengua extranjera en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Tuve la oportunidad de realizar mis prácticas en Cork, Irlanda. He trabajado en escuelas primarias en Madrid durante 7 años y un año en Illinois durante el curso 2008-2009 en un programa bilingüe. En mi tiempo libre me encanta viajar por Estados Unidos y por otros países para conocer mejor el país, la cultura y las costumbres. Los fines de semana me gusta reunirme con mis amigos, tomar un café y charlar, ir de caminata por senderos de los alrededores o ir a San Francisco para descubrir nuevos sitios.
I am originally from Spain, I was born in Galicia and raised in Madrid. I've lived in California for 3 years. This will be my third year teaching in the dual immersion program. I got my Bachelor ́s Degree in Musical Education at the University of Alcalá and in Foreign Language Education (English) at the Complutense University of Madrid. I had the opportunity to do my teaching practice in Cork, Ireland. I worked in primary schools in Madrid for seven years and one year in Illinois in a bilingual program in 2008. I love to travel around the United States and other countries to learn more about the country, culture and customs. On weekends I like to have a coffee with my friends, to go hiking or to go to San Francisco to discover new places.

Asistí a la Universidad de California en Irvine, donde obtuve una licenciatura en psicología. Después de la Universidad, trabajé para el Servicio de Parques Nacionales. Trabaja en varios parques en California y en Maine. Después de 26 años me retiré del Servicio de Parques y obtuve mi credencial de enseñanza de Sonoma State University. Actualmente resido en Pt. Reyes Station donde mi esposa sigue trabajando para el Servicio de Parques Nacionales. Tengo un hijo que vive en Brooklyn, Nueva York. En mi tiempo libre me gusta leer, ver los Gigantes de San Francisco y caminar los senderos de Pt. Reyes National Seashore.

I am a native Spanish speaker originally from Yucatán, México. I grew up in the United States in Southern California near Whittier. I attended the University of California at Irvine, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After college I worked for the National Park Service working in several parks in California and in Maine. After 26 years I retired from the Park Service and obtained my teaching credential from Sonoma State University. I currently reside in Pt. Reyes Station where my wife continues
to work for the National Park Service. I have a son who lives in Brooklyn, New York. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching the San Francisco Giants and walking in Pt. Reyes National Seashore.

I am a proud product of a Two-way Immersion Elementary School in San Jose, CA. I’m a graduate of Chico State’s Bilingual teacher preparation program. During my junior year of college I had a wonderful study abroad experience in Alicante, Spain where I studied Spanish and taught English to students of all ages. This will be my second year teaching. I enjoy playing and watching all sports especially the 49ers, the Warriors and the Giants. On weekends you will find me either playing or coaching soccer, hiking with my dog or exploring Sonoma County.
Soy un orgulloso producto de una escuela elementaría de doble Inmersión en San José, CA. Me gradué de Maestra Bilingüe de la Universidad de Chico, California. En mi tercer año de universidad tuve la oportunidad de estudiar español en Alicante, España y de enseñar inglés a niños de varias edades. Este año va ser mi segundo año como maestra. Me gusta jugar y ver todos los deportes especialmente los 49ers, los Warriors, y los Gigantes. Los fines de semana me encontrarás jugando o entrenando fútbol, caminando con mi perro o explorando el condado de Sonoma.

Jeremy Smith
Jeremy Smith is from Sebastopol, California. He spent his senior year of high school in an exchange program in Burgos, Spain, and went on to study Latin American Literature at U.C. Santa Cruz. He later earned a bilingual teaching credential from Sonoma State University. Mr. Smith has taught in Dual Immersion schools for ten years in California and New Mexico. He has also worked for five years as a Volunteer, Volunteer Coordinator, and Program Director in Peace Corps Paraguay's Education and Youth Development Program. Mr. Smith lives in Santa Rosa with his wife María Isabel and their son Pablo. He is very happy to be back in Sonoma County helping to form bilingual and socially conscious citizens.
Jeremy Smith es de Sebastopol, California. Pasó el último año del colegio en un programa de intercambio en España, y siguió estudiando literatura latinoamericana en la Universidad de Santa Cruz. Más tarde consiguió la licencia para enseñar en aulas bilingües de Sonoma State University. El señor Smith ha enseñado en programas de doble inmersión por un total de diez años en California y Nuevo México. También ha trabajado por cinco años en el Cuerpo de Paz en Paraguay como Voluntario, Coordinador de Programa y Director de Programa. Ahora reside en Santa Rosa con su esposa María Isabel y su hijo Pablo. Está muy feliz por estar de vuelta en el Condado de Sonoma ayudando a formar ciudadanos bilingües y socialmente conscientes.
